What is The Breathwork Experience?

The Breathwork Experience is a customized wellness service that brings the power of conscious breathing to your event. We’ll customize an immersive experience for your social group, professional group or at your large group event.

Breathwork is an umbrella term that emcompasses all intentional breathing practices. But for our purposes, it’s an extended practice that can rewire the nervous system, energize the body and invite the breather into a deep, emotional and spiritual healing experience.

Guided by experienced facilitator, Lauren Leigh Henry, participants are led through a series of rhythmic breathing patterns designed to:

  • Release tension and calm the nervous system so your guests can feel at ease with themselves and connect more easily with others. This makes The Breathwork Experience a highly effective ice-breaker.

  • Rejuvenate and invigorate the body and mind so your guests can have 100% sober, wholehearted, healthy FUN— while feeling more connected to themselves and others. Breathwork may help boost productivity, creativity and elevate the mood.

  • Creates a safe space for healing and personal growth, bringing people a sense of connection and trust. A Breathwork Experience is fertile ground for lifelong friendships.

  • Foster a sense of unity, bonding and shared experience among guests.

FAQs

Hi there, it’s Lauren, here to answer some of the questions I’m asked most about The Breathwork Experience.

Don’t see your question here? Not to worry! Use the contact form above and I’ll answer you via email.

Q: What exactly is The Breathwork Experience?
The Breathwork Experience is a guided journey using a specific, intentional breathing pattern paired with a powerful music set and trauma-informed facilitation. It’s designed to help participants release stress, quiet the mind, process emotions, and connect more deeply with themselves and each other. Lauren uses her unique blend of Western science and Eastern yogic philosophy and somatics to craft a safe space for people to release, rejuvenate and connect.

Q: What kinds of groups is this for?
I work with all types of groups — from intimate women’s circles and yoga teacher trainings, to corporate wellness days, retreats, community organizations, and large public events. Even birthday parties, bachelorettes, even potentially as a precursor to a wedding or ceremony as a unique way to bring people together and connect them to something greater.  Whether your gathering is focused on personal growth, team connection, celebration, or simply offering something unique and memorable, this experience can be tailored to fit.

Q: How long is a typical session?
Our base package Breathwork Experience event runs about 2.5 hrs. This allows time for opening intention, guided breathwork (usually 30–35 minutes of active breathing followed by 25-30 min of sound healing or meditation music), and a closing integration circle. Add on ceremonies and rituals will add to the overall length.

Q: What’s required to host an event?
A comfortable, quiet space with enough room for participants to lie down is essential. The space should be closed to our event and free from distractions and interruptions.  Yoga mats, blankets, and pillows are ideal (some hosts or studios provide these; otherwise I invite participants to bring their own). Access to an electrical outlet for my sound system may be needed, and dimmable lighting is a bonus.

Q: How many people can participate?
I’ve facilitated for groups as small as 4 and can accommodate groups as large as 50. The size will depend on your venue and how intimate you want the experience to feel.  For larger groups, I bring trained assistants to help facilitate a smooth and safe experience for all participants.

Q:  I’ve heard of breathwork like box breathing, alternate nostril breathing and breath of fire.  How is this different from breathwork I’ve done in my yoga class?

Most breathwork that people might be taught in a yoga or wellness space is often one of two techniques:

  • Slow, gentle, and controlled (like box breathing and alternate nostril breathing), OR…

  • Short, fast and fierce (like breath of fire).  These are typically only done for a few minutes at a time and with rest periods in between exercises.

The style of breathing we use in The Breathwork Experience uses faster, deeper breathing for a prolonged period.  This technique can create more intense physical and emotional experiences, which is why it’s always done with an experienced, trauma-informed facilitator present.  The best thing about breathwork is that while I give cues for how fast to breathe, I encourage people to follow their bodies and go at their own pace.

Q: Is breathwork safe for everyone?
Most people can safely participate, but there are certain medical and psychological conditions that require caution or consultation with a healthcare provider (e.g., cardiovascular issues, epilepsy, pregnancy, severe PTSD and others).  I provide all hosts with a detailed safety and waiver form so participants know what to expect.

Q:  Is breathwork a good fit for everyone, even if they aren’t into wellness or health?
The short answer is no.  Ceremonial Breathwork like what we’ll be doing in The Breathwork Experience is definitely designed for audiences who are at least interested in improving their overall health and wellness. Breathwork can help people release stored energy, and sometimes that can bring up intense emotions, both for the breather and for those around them.  People who don’t yet have the emotional capacity to self-regulate or a good support network are not good candidates for The Breathwork Experience.

It also bears noting that ceremonial breathwork should always be 100% voluntary.  Event hosts should practice informed consent when inviting their group to participate.  If questions come up, I am happy to answer them.

Q: Do you bring your own sound system?
For smaller spaces (up to 1000 sq ft) I can bring my own portable speaker, unless there is already an adequate sound system in place, in which, I may be able to use yours.  For larger venues, if the venue has its own sound system, then we’ll use that.  If not, we can discuss the best option for sound quality, as our breathwork playlist plays a pivotal role in the transformative arc of the breathwork journey.

Q: Can the experience be customized for our theme or intention?
Absolutely. Whether your event has a theme like “Connection",” “Resilience,” “Trust,” or “Ancient Wisdom,” or you want to weave in a specific ritual like cacao, fire ceremony, or meditation, I can craft the breathwork journey to align with your vision.

Q: What’s your pricing?
Pricing depends on group size, travel, and any additional rituals or sound healing elements. I’m happy to provide a custom quote once I know more about your event.   As a general rule, larger parties will require more facilitation assistants and event support, which will increase the price. Venues that can provide use of their own sound/PA system will save on overall price.

Q: What might I feel physically?
You may experience tingling, numbness, changes in temperature, lightheadedness, muscle tension or “claw hands” (tetany), and shifts in energy. These sensations are temporary and usually resolve after normal breathing resumes.

Q: What might I feel emotionally or spiritually?
You may experience emotional release (crying, laughing, anger, joy), vivid imagery or memories, deep peace, or feelings of connection. Everyone’s experience is different.

Q: What makes this different from other breathwork or meditation sessions?
This isn’t just breathwork like you might do briefly during a yoga class— it’s a carefully curated, immersive experience that often leaves the breather with renewed sense of peace, connection and unity.  It’s the transformative modality that I’ve used for my own retreats and empowerment workshops– and it leaves a lasting impact.  People commonly share that the breathwork shook something loose in them that was blocking them from being fully themselves.  Because of this, people often leave the experience with more purpose, more clarity and greater connection to those around them.  Feel free to book a small group experience before scheduling a larger group experience and see for yourself.

Q:  Can we make this experience into a full retreat or multi-day workshop?
Sure and we can have lots of fun exploring how to make it best for your group.  We can work together to build out an outline for an entire arc of transformation for your workshop or retreat, or I can work within a timeframe and any themes you have.   I have a wealth of resources we can use to create the best possible experience for your group.

Depending on what outcome you’re looking to create, I use everything from:

  • guided writing exercises

  • guided meditations

  • trio processes (groups of 3)

  • partner processes

  • group sharing & coaching

  • sacred rituals (like fire ceremony, cacao ceremony)

  • and lots and lots of integration– so that people leave the journey feeling safe, held and grounded

There are infinite possibilities and I look forward to hearing your ideas!
